On this week’s “Murder Night Extravaganza” we are doing a crossover with Amy Bell and Amanda Feriante from These Are Bad Movies (as well as RC Roberts from Ferocia Animi) and will be discussing the 1974 Tobe Hooper film “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.” This film is the first appearance of Leatherface based on the real-life serial killer Ed Gein. This low-budget independent film was unlike anything audiences in 1974 had seen. Although there is actually very little blood in the film… audiences were horrified by the tale of five teenagers traveling to visit their grandfather’s grave in rural Texas who end up getting dismembered by a cannibalistic rural Texas family. The film shoot was hell with constant on-set injuries, sickness, and bad smells. And at the end of it, the cast got ripped off by shady financial deals.
