“…and now for something completely different”… our first Monty Python film! Life of Brian. Forrest, J. Andrew World, Conan Neutron, and Georgia State Perimeter College Philosophy Professor Ryan Lake talk about the Terry Jones religious satire.
A fantastic satire and send up of religiosity, community organizing and the nature of belief and the absolutely obnoxious followers of said belief. Life of Brian has aged a lot better than a lot of people give it credit for and actually works very well AS a film. Not quite the gag a minute of Holy Grail, and is less remembered as a comedic classic because of that. Some people even think aspects of it haven’t aged well. But the laughs are long and loud and is one of the great religious satires, still… after all these years.
You know what they say: some things in life are bad. They can really make you mad. Other things just make you swear and curse. When you’re chewing on life’s gristle, don’t grumble; give a whistle, and this’ll help things turn out for the best. And… always look on the bright side of life…
