This episode is a big one! How Very.
Forrest, J. Andrew World, Conan Neutron, and Kristina talk to director Michael Lehmann (!) about his 1989 film Heathers which starred Winona Ryder and Christian Slater.
We get into the ending (controversial!), casting decisions, that Michael didn’t realize Brad Pitt had read for Heathers, Directing Winona Ryder, Christian Slater and the rest of the cast with the unique language in the film, (ex: F** me gently with a chainsaw), We also get to see the actual Big Fun Barbie!
(note: this works better on youtube over podcast)
Somehow completely irreverent and intelligent while being hilariously course and vicious, it is easy to forget how FUNNY this film is. Just a bleak and clever black comedy that has an all star cast, brilliant direction and manages to be a brilliant high farce and solid coming of age film. Endlessly quotable! Absolutely nails the VICIOUSNESS of teenagers in a way that few films do.
Also, the line “This is the type of thing that can infect a generation. It’ll be like the Woodstock of the 80s” in reference to blowing up a school is magnificent.
